Tigers looking for first win over Newton since 1995

The last time Olney beat Newton in a varsity football game, Bill Clinton was the President of the United States, Joe Torre was in his final season as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Tigers were still a member of the North Egypt Conference.
That was 1995, when current Olney assistant coach Brad Ameter scored on a 62-yard run with 41 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers to an 18-14 victory over the Eagles at East Richland High School.
Since then, Newton has won the last 15 meetings, including a 27-21 overtime thriller in 2009.
Olney first-year head coach Matt Music did not downplay the importance of Friday night's Apollo Conference battle at ERHS, calling it a huge game.
"I haven't been in this type of game in my coaching career," said Music, who was a senior wide receiver/defensive back for the Edwards County Lions in 1995. "When I was at Mount Zion, our rivals were Charleston and Effingham but those games are nothing like what this game means to this community.
