Cinematographer, friend to Woody Guthrie, to speak at Tulsa film fest

"You know, there were some issues on that film," said Wexler, who won his second Academy Award for "Bound for Glory."
"Like the fact that David Carradine wasn't anything like Woody, and that he did Woody's music and did it all wrong. A lot of that is because (Carradine) was mostly stoned a lot."
At 89 and still making films on an annual basis, Wexler has seen it all and done it all. Stories as colorful as his recollections of his pal Woody and on-set drama like Carradine's addictions are likely topics of discussion this week when he comes to town.
Wexler - who spoke by telephone from the Toronto International Film Festival - is being honored Thursday night at the inaugural Tulsa International Film Festival, a four-day event, for his body of work.
