'Bus Stop's at new home for Central Park Players

Cherie (Sarah Sternburgh) is a saloon singer who is intent on getting away from Bo (Van Merrill), a rodeo cowboy who wants to take her to his ranch in Montana and marry her.

The local sheriff (Andrew Kitchka) and Virgil (Larry Gilbert), Bo’s friend and ranch hand, try to get Bo to listen to Cherie’s protestations.

The lonely bus driver (Bruce Baker) has his eye on Grace (Trudi Kerkstra), the owner of the diner, while Grace protectively watches over Elma (Michaela Kerkstra), a naïve waitress who is the momentary object of affection for Dr. Lyman (Andrew Zahrt).

Inge’s three-act play focuses on the human struggle to escape loneliness.

“The best way to describe the overall theme of the show is that it's a slice of life about love,” said Sternburgh. “It is just like life. There are good things that happen. There are not so good things that happen. There are things that happen that are left up to debate.”

“(The play is) definitely worth seeing because of the debate that you can have about the characters once the show is done,” said Sternburgh. “That's the indication of good theater and a good playwright. They can make you talk about the characters well after the experience is over.”
