Lang's famed Christmas display in need of new home
13.10.11
Since 1976, the Lang residence on Fontaine Drive has been the home of one of the most popular Christmas spectacles in Auburn. That will change this holiday season since Steve Lang no longer calls that residence home and because the lights present a huge financial burden.
Lang, who said he loves his "hobby" of assembling an extravagant Christmas display, doesn't want his annual tradition to end.
"It's been my little project since 1976," Lang said. "It's just grown from there. I'm just some crazy ol' redneck putting up lights.
"There's got to be a saying, 'If you have to put up an extra light pole in your yard for your light display, you might be a redneck.'"
The lifelong Auburn resident and 1978 Auburn University graduate has the pleasure of calling Auburn mayor Bill Ham a close friend. The two attended grade school all the way through graduation at Auburn High School together.
Ham said he has always loved seeing his friend's light
