Nick Lowe to play Powerstation
05.10.11
A musician, whose songs are better known than he is, is bringing his show to New Zealand next year.
Nick Lowe - singer, songwriter, band leader and producer - will perform at Auckland's Powerstation on March 31, 2012.
The man, who captivated Kiwi audiences in 2009 while touring with Ry Cooder, released his first album in four years last month.
But the 62-year-old's career began in 1969 as a bass player in Brinsley Schwarz - considered one of the ground-breaking bands of the UK pub rock scene.
It was his work as Stiff Records' co-founder and in-house producer that influenced the development of punk rock.
Work on The Damned debut album, Elvis Costello's first five releases and The Pretender's debut single Stop Your Sobbing all feature on Lowe's CV.
As for the man himself, his songs I love The Sound Of Breaking Glass, Cruel To Be Kind, Labour of Lust and (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding are all etched into the music-lovers memories.
