Preston L. Grover
Preston L. Grover 1949-2011Preston L. Grover was born January 7, 1949 in Lamar Colorado to newlyweds Alvin and Genevieve. After the roads cleared from a winter storm, his parents brought him home to a one-room rock homestead in Baca county Colorado. Just a few weeks later the new Grover family moved to a farm ten miles north of Springfield, Colorado. It would become his home for the next eighteen years. In 1952 the quiet little boy became a big brother to Marsha and then in 1954 to Wynona.
A childhood helping his father on the farm created the heart of a cowboy.
As a boy he would spend hours sketching cattle, horses and designs for corrals. Preston went on to study Agriculture in college, graduating in 1972.
On September 6, 1969 Preston married his school sweetheart, Lynn Poteet. They became parents when Amy Rae was born in January of 1973 in Amarillo, Texas.
With the responsibility of a young family, Preston looked for better work opportunities and found one riding pens at Colorado Beef in Lamar, Colorado.
