How long was Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator (1940) showing in theaters?

The film was released in October of 1940.
The reason why I am asking how long it was in theaters is because in the movie Pearl Harbor the movie is showing, though it is October of 1941.

In those days, movies would be shown in theaters for a long time. They probably showed it all during WW2.
It was released in France in 1945.
According to source, the movie was sent to Adolph Hitler and confirmed by an eye-witness that

South Orange Library Offers 'Absurdity of War' Film Series

The South Orange Public Library announced their new Fall film series called "The Absurdity of War."  The first film, The Great Dictator , a legendary classic by Charlie Chaplin, will be shown Tuesday, Oct. 25th at 7 p.m. at the library.

The series will offer a commentary on war and its perpetrators through humor or satire.  Each film screening will be introduced by and followed by a discussion led by film exponent, John Columbus, director and founder of the Black Maria Film Festival.  The Great Dictator was made in 1940 by the genius of the silent cinema, Charlie Chaplin, but this is his first true "talkie" and his most successful.  It's a powerful spoof of Adolf Hitler and Nazism with a message that holds truths for today.

Other films in the series include “Dr. Strangelove and How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb” on Nov. 29 and “Life is Beautiful” on Dec. 27.

All are welcome at all programs in the series and refreshments will be served. For further information please contact Phyllis Kalb, Program Coordinator at the South Orange Public Library (973) 762-0230 or e-mail  pkalb@sopl.org

'The Dictator' demands we taste the 'duck soup'
Aladeen gives a tongue-in-cheek, pro-dictatorship speech that serves as a subversive critique of America. The speech is clearly an homage to "The Great Dictator" (1940), where Charlie Chaplin delivers a closing monologue that holds just as true today

All hail, Hollywood
All hail, Hollywood Chaplin's spoofing of Adolf Hitler in The Great Dictator wasn't just hilarious but also a bold feat in the context of its era. For most Americans in 1940, Hitler was only a European problem, and comedians weren't expected to get political.

Looking at politics with tongue in cheek
With Sascha Baron Cohen's The Dictator hitting the cinemas we focussed on political satire in film today. From The Dictator to The Great Dictator, Mark's first choice was Charlie Chaplin's 1940 film and he also made note of the numerous Mel Brooks

All the world's a Stooge
The Stooges were the first to satirize Hitler on film, 9 months before Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator. As You Nazty Spy begins, the Stooges are wallpaper hangers, an occupation reportedly once held by Adolf Hitler.
