Apart from some budgetary and censorship limitations, films like The 39 Steps (1935) and The Lady Vanishes (1938) look exactly the way Hitchcock wanted them to. James Stewart, Grace Kelly and Alfred Hitchcock on the set of Rear Window.
Since everyone has their own favourite movie, ranging from The Lady Vanishes (1938) to Notorious (1946) to Psycho (1960), the BFI has decided to jump both feet in: its retrospective will screen all of Hitchcock's surviving films.
