I love that movie, and it'd be a crime to remake it, but if I had to say, I'd guess Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. She looks killer as a red-head, and he's a big galoot like the Duke.

Reunion of sorts for The Quiet Man in Cork

A reunion of sorts will take place when John Wayne’s family arrive in Cork next month. John Wayne’s son, Patrick, will collect a prestigious award on his father’s behalf.

Maureen O’Hara, who starred in ‘The Quiet Man’ with John Wayne and son Patrick, (who appeared in the 1952 film as a child), will present the award. They will be reunited when the Maureen O’Hara Foundation in Glengarriff presents Patrick with the Legacy & Excellence Award.

The event takes place on Saturday, 1 October at the Maritime Hotel in Bantry. ‘The Duke’s' daughter Aissa and granddaughter Jennifer will also attend.

Frank McCarthy, Chief Executive of the Maureen O’Hara Foundation, said: “We are delighted to welcome members of the John Wayne family to Ireland, to salute ‘The Duke’ for his outstanding achievements as much loved legendary American film actor, director and producer.

“His distinctive voice and style became synonymous with all his great films and we are particularly fond of his outstanding achievement with director, John Ford and our very own Maureen O’Hara, in the making of ‘The Quiet Man’.
