NO JOURNEY REUNION Steve Perry, the 62-year-old former frontman for rockers Journey, who co-wrote and sang lead on the band's 1981 smash, "Don't Stop Believin'," a song that has seen an incredible resurgence in popularity the past couple years, tells fans to stop believin' that he'll reunite with the band.
Perry, who joined the group in 1977, four years after they were formed in San Francisco by members of Santana, quit the band in 1998.
The band has continued to record and tour without him. Its current singer, Arnel Pineda, was hired in 2007 from a Filipino Journey tribute band.
Pineda sang on Journey's Top 5 2008 platinum-selling CD, "Revelation."
Perry granted the Associated Press a rare interview in advance of the release this week of Journey's "Greatest Hits, Vol. 2," and the re-release of his 1984 solo album, "Street Talk," that featured the #1 hit, "Oh Sherry."
Of a possible reunion with Journey, Perry, who Rolling Stone once ranked #76 on its list of 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, said, "Life has moved us all on in different places in our lives. They're doing what they're doing since '98 and I've been doing what I'm doing, which is living my life and having a personal life. We have severely, emotionally, gone our separate ways."
