The master of suspense's five best films meet at last in 'Alfred Hitchcock ...

"Alfred Hitchcock: The Essentials Collection"

We've seen plenty of DVD collections of Alfred Hitchcock's best films, but they've always come up short. Until now.

This new boxed set accomplishes what none have managed to do before. The master of suspense's five best films are finally together in one package.

The missing link until now always has been "North by Northwest." Warner Bros. produced it, while Universal made the other four films that most would agree are Hitch's greatest hits.

Take "The Masterpiece Collection" as an example. Released in 2005 by Universal in a deluxe, velvet-covered case, the 15-disc boxed set is a worthy effort, but the moment it arrived, it felt incomplete. How could any definitive collection not include "North By Northwest"?

All five films in "The Essentials Collection" have been released before on DVD, but this is their first time together. It's one killer gift idea.

As Hitchcock famously said, "Television has brought murder back into the home -- where it belongs."
